Welcome 2011...!

Ciao a tutti,
here we are again, back home and back to normal life after 2 weeks of winter holidays in a nice small village in Piemonte region, north east of Italy, close to the France border. There are lots of new cities up there that were born after the second half of the sixties when italians discovered the ski and all the other winter sports.

So, now it's part of our life style to spend at least a week every year in a ski place especially with kids to give them the opportunities to learn skiing and breath after a long school season or during the school season. Yes, I told during the school season because normally in every school around  the end of jan and the 3rd week of feb the school organize a "white week"for the students - a kind of field trip for the whole class - or sometimes the school close or "slowdown"for a week to give to parents the chance to travel and ski togheter with their kids.

That's Italy and I love it.

Ciao a tutti,
after a long and busy 2010 we are now ready to slow down a bit and enjoy the Christmas atmosphere.
In the past year we traveled alot: from Napoli and Amalfi coast to Venezia, from Genova and the Cinque Terre region to Lucca,  and again, from Roma to Rimini, from Capri to Firenze....thousands kilometers, hundreds of new good friends.
Now we are working to a new season of adventures around Italy but not only in Italy....so be ready to discover our projects and be super ready to jump on an airplane and reach us.

For the moment accept our best wishes for a Christmas full of joy and happyness....and of course peace and health.

- Tipical Umbrian Tozzetti recipe -

Ciao a tutti, 

here is the Umbrian recipe to prepare wonderful Tozzetti biscuits.

Enjoy and for every question please feel free to contact Cristiana    

           TOZZETTI 

 500 gr  flour

 200 gr  sugar

 1 egg + 3 yolks

 125 gr butter or 80 gr olive oil

 250 gr  whole sweet hazelnuts (some chopped)

 2 chocolate cubes (chopped in small pieces)

 ½ glass of anise or 3 spoons of anice seeds

 1 teaspoon of yeast

Oven at  180°C or 350/360 F

Wisk the egg and the yolks together with sugar.

Add the flour and the butter, then the anise, hazelnuts and the.

Continue to knead the dough (add more flour if you see it's dough is not dense enough. You have to create a rectangular shape with the dough).

Put the mixture on a baking pan with paper.

Bake it for 15 minutes at 180°. 

Wait until cools down, then cut into small slices.

Place the pan back in the oven for about 10 more minutes to let the tozzetti harden.
